Pictures from Dungse Rinpoche's visit

Hello again!

Here are some pictures from Rinpoche's visit. Hope you enjoy.

Waiting to enter the Memorial Chorten grounds for the special puja that Dungse Ripoche led. It was packed, there was pushing, and bumping and trying to get in, the police had to try and control the crowd.

Inside the Chorten grounds. A crowd of devoted students sits and listens. Straight ahead where the big tent is where Rinpoche was sitting, with his most immediate students that came with him from the US.

This particular lineage of buddhism, is known for these drums, that all the students were playing, along with bells...

Sacred text/prayers that were recited and sung.

Right next to my house, this is where Rinpoche stayed during his entire stay in Thimphu. They had prepared the area for weeks.

After Rinpoche left the Memorial Chorten, the crowd gathered around trying to catch a glimpse. Here he is already in the car, but the crowd surrounds the car, touching, sometimes kissing the car. When the car started moving, the crowd allowed it reluctantly to move.

A few days later a big mass teaching was held at the Police Grounds, also not far from my house. Approx. 10,000 attended.

A very large Tanghka behind the crowd, facing the stage where Rinpoche was teaching.

This is how it was raised.

Recording his every word through the speaker.

Kids playing.

Grown ups listening...

And there he is...

Love,
Noam

  1. Wonderful reportage. Thank you.
It's just the same I was there. (without pushing!)
We are disciples of Dungsey Rimpoché and welcome Him in France in our flat in Paris when He first landed in the West.
We are so happy that He could visit Bhutan.
    Thanks again.

  2. Amazing pictures and really great reporting on Rinpoche's visit to Bhutan. A lot of Rinpoche's followers here in U.S and elsewhere have been scavenging around the net for any bits of information on Rinpoche's visit to Bhutan and your blog entries have passed around and enjoyed with much relish.:)
By the way I was there at the Chorten and at the Lung(might be behind someone in the last pic) and I am sorry I didn't get to meet you. It's really great work that you're doing in Bhutan and we are all very grateful. I had the opportunity to look up some of music on youtube, and you also seem to be a an amazing musician.
